What Motivates a Teacher?

What motivates a teacher to get up each morning and face a class filled with little bodies of energy when her energy is just about spent? What makes a teacher plot and plan with new thoughts and ideas for her children when time and time again they just don't get it, or won't focus? What keeps a teacher dreaming of the success of a child in her class when sometime it seems like one step forward and two back? Its that moment - that light in the eye that says "I understand". Its that question that shows that he really is beginning to get the concept. Its the little note "You are the best teacher in the world" coming at the worst time.

A Christian School teacher has even more motivation. We know that we can make a difference not only in regard to the success of a child as he grows into the adult world, but we can make a difference for all eternity in the guidance we give. We also know that, if we are truly called to teach, and we fulfill that calling to the best of our ability, we will one day stand before the Creator of those children we have taught and hear the precious words, "WELL DONE". That is very rich motivation.
